We are thrilled to share that Blue Turtle Technologies has adopted a very special turtle from the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation. Meet Blue, our little loggerhead turtle rescued on 16 April 2024 in Struisbaai. Weighing just 49.79g at the time of rescue and measuring 6.4cm in length and 6.3cm in width, Blue carried a couple of old wounds on his carapace, a testament to the challenges faced in the vast ocean.
“Thanks to the exceptional care provided by the Turtle Conservation Centre team, Blue is on the path to recovery. We are proud to support this crucial rehabilitation effort and give Blue a second chance at life,” Geoff Van Den Bosch at Blue Turtle.
Loggerhead turtles face daunting odds, with only two in a thousand surviving into adulthood. The work done by the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation is vital, offering hope to countless hatchlings that would otherwise perish, often due to human-induced hazards. The rehabilitation process is intensive and costly, but it is essential to give these turtles a fighting chance.
By adopting Blue, we are not only contributing to his rehabilitation but also raising awareness about the importance of marine conservation. We invite you to join us in supporting this incredible cause. You, too, can adopt a turtle and follow their journey from rescue to release, receiving monthly updates and the joy of knowing you’ve made a difference.
